As I graduate from university in July 2010, I’m writing application to my favorite companies. Currently I applied for Microsoft jobs (especially Windows Azure, Codename ‘Dallas’), at Google and Amazon. My application for the graduate program at Lionhead was not successful, but the application process showed me what is expected. I really liked the fact that Lionhead gives feedback – thanks to Helen – and tells you what went wrong…

But there are somethings I really cannot understand, especially when looking at the graduate recruiting at Microsoft Ireland. I got into stage 2 and information about stage 3 (telephone interview, coding tests) but they never told me that I’m either successful or not. After today short internet overview (some tweets, blogs and so on) I realized that I’m following the MSIrish recruiting tweet and found that tweet:

Miss the deadline for our Technical Graduate Programme? We’re accepting additional applicants now at gradjobs@microsoft.com1:53 AM Apr 26th via TweetDeck

It’s interesting to see such things and even not to get any feedback on your application. I can deal with it, so I’ve got a Microsoft Surface project till I know something about my current applications. More about that later, when I have some information.

Stay tuned.

Today I started blogging as an editor at http://getnewtech.wordpress.com/. The blog deals with gadgets and I as I write about gadgets they invited me to write for them. The blog is in German, so not all my readers can follow as easily as now. I Join the blog because, I can reach more people and. I not going to stop blogging here. I will translate all my posts and put them here as well, to keep my current readers up to date.

Last week I got my new KindleDX and I really like it (first day: Lord of the Rings – Book 1 read…). The reading quality is amazing. I tried to read with my room lights on and in daylight, there is no problem with reflexions or light situations where reading an LCD notebook is impossible. The Global Wireless feature is usable but in Austria it is a bit slow. The roaming feature of the built-in AT&T mobile connection often chooses the slowest connection in my area (3G is available).

The new PDF feature is a very nice thing. I put all my stuff for my master thesis on my Kindle to read while on train, bus or at university. In Kindle documents it is possible to make annotations but in PDF documents it is not possible for reasons unknown. If Amazon added this feature, the Kindle would be a perfect business device for reading contracts or documents (silent feature request).

The battery last very long, I played around the whole weekend and my battery is at 75% (wireless off). This week I will try documents with more pictures to test the quality of the display for software design and concept papers. I going to post some information on that later this week.

Just installed the Chrome 4 Beta and I like it. It’s a bit faster than version 3. There is also an AdBlock extension to reduce the ads on websites. Just check out the beta, it’s almost stable and the performance with JavaScript is amazing. I also tried the new bookmark synchronization feature to synchronize between my PC and my notebook. It’s easy to setup – just specify your Google account information – and the synchronization process is fast.

To download the beta version follow this link: http://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel

For some reasons I will continue blogging in English. Hope you will follow in future. This is the first step to provide more technical information to the rest of the world.

See you soon on my blog.
