Today I arrived at home after my trip to Seattle, WA. I did my job interview and some sightseeing. The first two days where a bit boring and I felt very alone. So I did some shopping and sightseeing – visited the Space Needle and the Seattle Center, Pike Place Market.

Pike Place Market is a very nice place to hang around because there are so many people and you can easily find someone to talk to, especially about their products. I bought some souvenirs and jam to cook with.

On Tuesday was the interview day. I had – I think, cannot remember – 6 interviews with different developers. The interview process was challenging, but I think I did quite well. Maybe I’ll get an offer to join Amazon – hope dies at last.

In the evening I had lunch with two friends who work in Seattle/Redmond (yes the big company there). After two days of fast food a real dish was awesome. After that we had a beer and then I fell into bed.

On Wednesday I took my flight home and so I am currently sitting at the Frankfurt International Airport.

So stay tuned for more information about my performance at Amazon.com.

Today I had my second with Amazon. I think I did perform well, but not the way I wanted. Second round was quite hard and I was too nervous today. I won’t go into detail, because I am very tired today and I do not really want to give more detail, because of the same reasons like last time.

So stay tuned.

Today I did an interview about my EMS Stress Analyzer- at ServusTV on the show “Gut Leben”. I really enjoyed the day at the TV station, there were very friendly and it was a relaxed atmosphere. I hope I did a good job, I have not seen my interview yet, but they will post it on their homepage (link follows).

Stay tuned.

Just a nice statement to finish my last day at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Research Center Hagenberg. Today my contract ends and I’ll return my notebook, keys and sensors I’ve got. It was a very nice time with many challenging tasks. I want to thank our project manager and my colleagues for the time and we may meet in future – actually I’ll meet my project manager at my final exam, because he evaluates my master thesis.

There are some appointments in future for finishing the project and give all the documents and code to our customer, but the project ends today. Lets hope that I get the job I want – read my further posts – so that I can start working in summer.

Today/Yesterday I had my technical telephone interview with Amazon.com . I have prepared the last 5 days and tried to figure out what they want to hear. So I studied algorithms, OO, design patterns.

Finally the interview started – waiting the whole day was not good for my nerves. Quite much for about 50 minutes. At the end I asked some questions I was interested in and got a “homework” – I was at home. I had to code a little function to with files and strings, quite interesting, but not really tricky. I did that program and sent it to my interviewer about 40 minutes later – had to drink some water, visit the bathroom and take a breath before starting, so total coding time was about 20 minutes with thinking of a nice solution.

So now it’s waiting time again…I hate to wait, but it’s necessary. Stay tuned to get more information and feel free to ask by mail, IMs and so on.
